Dr. Angela Kang
I'm originally form a small beach town in Michigan, but after 3 years in North Carolina, Raleigh is beginning to feel more and more like home.
I attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) in Ann Arbor and earned my B.S. in Neuroscience; subsequently, I enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh for my dental education. During my time in Pittsburgh, I was fortunate enough to be inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) dental honor society. After obtaining my DMD, I then completed my orthodontic residency at St. Louis University, focusing my master's thesis on skeletal Class III growth pattern.
Having gone through adult braces and orthognathic surgery myself, I find that I can relate to my patients in a unique way and better understand their concerns. I can't think of a single procedure that I perform on my patients currently that I myself haven't gone through first. I want to be there every step of the way to help my patients achieve the smile that they've always dreamt of. I understand the hesitation of going through treatment, but I can assure you, it is absolutely worth it to have that beautiful, confident smile!
When I am not practicing orthodontics, I love to play piano, see live comedy at the DPAC--I just saw Ali Wong and Tom Segura this summer!--and to try new cuisines. My most recent obsession is Katsuji Tanabe's (from Top Chef) up-and-coming Mexican-Japanese restaurant in downtown Raleigh.
